Like the firebird, the golem’s origin is something of a
mystery. Iron golems are not living creatures, but instead operate by an elaborate clockwork system. They are such
intricate machines that they seem to have developed to a point where they behave as living creatures. They are very
hostile and defensive, and are almost impervious to any regular weapons. The best hope for destroying a golem lies with a well placed blow to one of their more delicate clockwork mechanisms. This probably won’t stop them
completely, but it may slow them down. They tend to roam around in caverns near
Alfyrian territory, instinctively gathering anything which may be of use in repairing itself, a trait
it shares with the stone golem and brass golem. All golems are suspected to be the results of Alfyrian
experiments gone out-of-hand.
